Goal setting can seem like a complicated process. However it boils down to certain key factors. You need to keep 3 main keys in mind as you set your goals.
1-Dream. The dream is the catalyst for all goal setting. You must know exactly what you are trying to accomplish. When you know what you want then it is just a matter of figuring out how to get it. Strengthen your focus on the targeted goal by listing reasons why you want your dream. List what you believe will be the results of you accomplishing it. In other words write out the reasons why you think achieving your goal will change you life. This is the fuel behind your efforts. Your dream is the catalyst and the inspiration that keeps you going.
2-Plan. Develop a plan for accomplishing your goal. Write down the tasks which will have to be done in order for you to successfully meet your objectives. Write down the skills that you will have to learn. Then map out a step by step plan for hitting your goal.
There may be some gaps in your plan. Some of what you will need to know will not be revealed until you have actually started. But get started anyway. You can always adjust your approach as you go. Remember it’s impossible to steer a parked car.
3-Work. Next you need to do the work. Start with the first step of your plan and work through to the last step of it. Be consistent with your work ethic. Monitor your results and make adjustments where necessary. As you stay persistent with your work you will become more efficient, skilled and confident. Doing the proper work assures your success. It is important to do the work despite circumstances, frustration or discouragement. Consistent action over time will get you what you desire.
