Anthony D Carter

Personal improvement is the key to changing most of the unfavorable aspects of your life. If you don’t like the house or neighborhood that you live in you can change it. If you don’t like being overweight or broke you can change it. If you have dug yourself into a hole you can get yourself out.

But contrary to popular opinion, it is not someone else’s fault or someone else’s responsibility. The blame does not belong to your spouse. If your current situation is like the examples listed earlier then you have to admit you are responsible for it. The change that you want is not in your boss’s hands. It’s in yours.

Here is the good news. Because you made the choices which led to your present frustration you can create positive changes by making wiser choices. You have the power to change things. You can get the weight off. You can make more money and leave poverty behind. You can get out of that rut and live the life that you have always dreamed of.

But it’s going to take two things. Honesty and commitment. You must honestly assess your current situation in life and you must take responsibility for it. Next you must make a commitment to change it.

He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects progress is the cemetery. ~Harold Wilson

The only real way to make lasting positive change is to change as a person. For your situation to change you must change. You have to improve personally in order for your surroundings to improve. Success is an inside job.

Start with your own personal improvement. Read positive mental attitude books. Attend personal development seminars. Listen to motivational audio programs. Upgrade your skills. Get a life coach. Do whatever it takes to improve who you are.

Once you begin to change in a positive way then people will treat you better. You will start to get the fortunate breaks. You will recognize opportunities that went unnoticed before. You will become to big for your current position at work and a promotion or a new job will become the most logical next step. You will become compelled to move on because you will find that you are overqualified for your current position.

There is a saying called failing forward. You can actually move forward by messing up from time to time. I want you to think about something that people experience in everyday airline travel. An airplane which travels from one city to another will wonder off course many times during the flight. Actually there are many course corrections during a typical flight across the country. The airplane may be off course 90percent of the time and yet it still arrives at the target destination on time.

Success is the same way. You may not end up where you wanted to go with the plan that you currently have. You may have to adjust and readjust before you finally succeed.

Do not put unreasonable pressure on yourself to be perfect. You do not have to get everything exactly right in order to move forward. Hitting your goal does not require perfection. Just begin taking massive action and continue to make corrections as you get better information. When you cultivate persistence you will begin to build momentum. As you gain momentum you will find it easier to overcome the usual setbacks that you encounter while striving to hit your goal.

Focus on your activity. Gain expertise from people who specialize in the arena that you want to excel in. You can learn from your mistakes and then get advice for improving your results. Get started, make improvements and don’t quit.

By Anthony D Carter

Motivation is a force that you can summon at will if you use a few important keys. Here are seven ways to motivate yourself to hit your goals.

1- Keep Your Focus- Focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want. It is easy to get distracted by challenges and circumstances that you are faced with on the way to realizing your dreams. You must not let those challenges deter you from moving forward. The best way to do that is to maintain focus on your desired destination. Keep your attention on what you want. Do not voice displeasure about the setbacks that you experience. Let all of the negative things that happen to you roll off of your back. These are only temporary situations if you continue to press forward with a clear visualization of your goals.

2- Read Success Stories-Being aware of people who have actually succeeded against difficult opposition will inspire you to persist in your efforts to overcome whatever obstacles that you face. Read as many self-help and personal development books as you can. These books will not only provide you with inspiration but they will also give you valuable skills for succeeding.

3- Gain Support- A good mentor or a good friend who will act as a sounding board can boost your confidence and help you stay clear regarding your progress. Sometimes we are so emotionally involved with what we are doing that we lose sight of the big picture. When we have someone whom we can confide in it helps us to step back and see our situation more realistically. A good friend or mentor will give you support and dispassionate feedback.

4- Track Your Progress- Keep a journal. Write your successes and failures down each night. This gives you a different perspective. You will be able to read your records of events over a long period of time. That way you will unveil a pattern of growth that you never would have noticed without your journal.

5- Reward Yourself-Celebrate when you hit the little milestones along the way. Go see a movie. Have an extra dessert. Give yourself a reward after you have done something productive that moves you closer to hitting your goals. This reinforces an achievement mindset and you will quickly develop a good habit of succeeding. Remember: Whatever gets rewarded gets repeated.

6- Learn From Failure- Sometimes we get down on ourselves for failing to meet our objectives. Instead you should take a look at what happened to cause the failure. Re-adjust the approach that you are taking and proceed towards hitting your goal again. That way you can do so with the added experience of knowing another method that does not work. When you have identified the mistakes that you don’t want to make anymore you are better able to move more confidently as you strive to achieve your objectives.

7- Lighten Up- Make it fun. You may not see immediate results from your actions. Don’t let this get you down. You should enjoy the journey. Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile goal or objective. As long as you are progressing then you are succeeding so lighten up and enjoy the your journey.

If you look at what you are doing as fun then you will do more of it. Just know that you are experiencing growth with every step that you take towards accomplishing your goal. Although it is sometimes painful, the person that you are becoming on the way to having what you want is worth the price that you are paying. It is a good trade-off that you are exchanging in order to get the thing that you desire.

With goal setting it is inevitable that you will miss achieving some of the goals that you set. Recovery from that failure can be hard. You don’t have to stay down long. Here are some survival tips you can use when you miss hitting your goals.

Don’t get down on yourself. When we miss our goal we think all is lost. We look at all of the time and effort that went into the attempt as being wasted. We feel like we could have done more. Failing sometimes makes us feel like a failure.

Don’t take it so hard when you miss hitting your goal. It happens from time to time. As a matter of fact the more goals that you go after the more times you may miss hitting goals. If you gave it your best shot then that is all that you can do.

Think in terms of trying again with a different approach. Realize the missteps can be corrected. Once they are corrected you are actually in a better position to hit your next goal. You can learn from your mistakes and use that experience to help you with future success.

Accept support of others. They witnessed your effort and the can lend you perspective. You tend to be to hard on yourself. As you are questioning yourself on moves that you made that introspection can spiral out of control into a full blown case of frustration and disgust.

Talk to someone you trust. Ask a person who is already successful. If they have encouraged you before in the past then they may have some insight to share with you now. Having another person who is supportive give you their input helps you to see things in more of a positive light. You will almost always find aspect of the goal attempt that you can build on.

Anthony D Carter

Success begins with your state of mind. If you have failed before then you have the ability to succeed. It is just a matter of using those failures in a positive way.

Your failures should be used as a foundation for your eventual success. The worst thing you can do is look at your setbacks as permanent situations that you find yourself in.

That is the most common reason that people usually become failures. They look at their temporary situation as hopeless and they quit.

The moment that you decide to give up on your dreams because of the difficulty involved in acquiring them then you have truly failed. If you never allow this to become your fate then you will eventually win.

Learn from every mistake and try not to make the same mistake twice. Use your failures. Bounce back by asking better questions. Ask them of yourself and seek out experts who have broken through the barriers that are stopping you.

Use every failure as a form of feedback. The information that you receive is not negative or positive. It is just data. It is feedback that you can use in order to improve your results. Simply retool your approach based upon your feedback.

With every failure that you experience you can actually grow if you use it in this way. Improve upon your previous results by examining the feedback that you receive from those attempts.

Do not let the struggle frustrate you to the point of giving up. Take a short break if you have to. Recharge your batteries and start again. Also, read biographies of people who have succeeded in spite of tremendous odds. This will put your disappointments in the proper prospective. You will come to realize that your situation is not unique. You will also see that in the whole scheme of things the obstacles that you face are not so big after all.

Turn Frustration Into Motivation in 3 Simple Steps

Frustration is another roadblock that hinders our success from time to time. Being frustrated over current conditions can sap all of your energy and initiative. It doesn’t have to be that way. There is a way to get over frustration and become more energized. Here are three steps for changing frustration into motivation.

Examine Your Current Situation. Frustration stems from a general feeling of helplessness. It seems as if no matter what you do you end up back at square one with the same problems facing you. Your first step to changing that feeling is to look at what you don’t like about your situation right now. List those unwanted conditions.

Explore Solutions. After listing the unwanted conditions in your life ask yourself this question: How can you change them? Just list general ideas. Don’t hold anything back. One of the best ways to finding out what you do want is in figuring out what you don’t want. You did that in the first step. Now it should be easier to look at the other side of that coin and come up with ideal conditions. Do not worry about how you are going to change things yet. You will learn that in the next step. For now focus all of you thoughts and emotions on what you would like to do, be, or have at this time in your life.

Get Specialized Knowledge. Now seek out specific answers. Find the best route to take in order to go from where you are right now to where you want to be. Use specialized knowledge resources. Search Google, visit public libraries, browse in book stores and read magazines. Once you begin exploring options available to you it will improve your mood as well as your outlook. You will be motivated to take this new road towards living a more fulfilled life rather than accepting the status quo of frustration and disappointment within your current situation.
