It may seem like you cannot accomplish your objectives because there are too many hurdles to overcome. Here are three ways to overcome obstacles and hit your goals.

Future
Focus on you future and not your past. If you allow your past mistakes to stay at the forefront of your mind you will continue to make more mistakes.
However if you focus on what you want and where you are going then you will maintain a brighter outlook. Your expectancy levels will rise as a result of you thinking about what you want instead of what you don’t want.

Positive
Focus on the positive and not the negative. We are always experiencing both negative and positive situations in our lives. What happens to you does not matter nearly as much as how you react to what happens to you.
If you look for the benefits in your situation then you will discover opportunities that could have easily gone unnoticed.

Strengths
Focus on your strengths and not your weaknesses. When you face a roadblock that is hindering you from reaching your goals do not worry about your weaknesses. Think instead about the strengths that you possess.
Use your strong suits to overcome the obstacle. Get coaching or knowledge which will enhance your abilities to get past hurdles that stand in your way.

You have more control over your situation than you realize. You can succeed at overcoming challenges if you focus your attention in the right direction. It takes a little practice, but once this becomes you main approach to problem solving you will find it easier to eliminate roadblocks on the way to achieving your goals.

Don’t let failure stop you. Use it to build your competence and skills. Practice makes perfect and the more you practice the more your confidence will increase.

“Success is never permanent, and failure is never final.” Mike Ditka.

Look at each failure as a stepping stone to your eventual success. Even the most famous people in the world failed before they went on to accomplish great and noteworthy achievements. Some of them have stories that you can relate to as result of the failed attempts that you have experienced with your goals.

Here is an inspiring video which demonstrates the power of persistence in the face of failure.

By Anthony D Carter

It seems to happen slowly. Life can go from being exciting and fun to being mundane and boring. It is at those times that it seems like your life is stuck in neutral. In order to get out of your rut avoid these 3 mistakes:

1-Settling For. When you resign yourself to a life of boring monotony you seal your fate in many ways. You are settling for a life that is the best that it is ever going to be today. With each day that passes life will become less and less fulfilling. You will find it more difficult to get out the bed each day. Also when you settle for being less than you can be you deny yourself the thrill that comes from pursuing a worthy goal or desire.

Solution: Always have something that you striving for. It is not the destination that holds all of the joy. It is the journey that provides the excitement. Find a worthwhile goal and go after it.

2-Excuses. It is a waste of time giving excuses for your current condition. No one wants to hear it except other underachievers who are anxious to share their excuses with you in return for them listening to you. When you allow yourself to get off the hook with excuses you set a pattern for avoiding responsibility for everything that you don’t like in your life. You will remain stuck in a rut because you tell yourself that nothing that happens to you is your fault.

Solution: Don’t use alibis to explain away the acceptance of mediocrity. If you continue to believe you are not responsible for your current conditions then you will also believe that you have no control over changing it for the better. That is not true. You can change. And in doing so you can change your environment and current situation into one which is more pleasing to you.

3-No Dream. Without a dream you are like a ship without a sail. Your dream sets the course for your life and when you don’t have one you do not have the consistent inner motivation that is needed to break free from being in a rut. If you don’t have a dream it is easy to settle for night after night of TV or unproductive pleasure seeking activities. You know you should be doing more with your life but without a clearly identified dream you do nothing productive.

Solution: Get a big dream. Find out what it is that is your heart’s desire. Clearly identify it. Once you do set some goals. Make a plan to hit your goals. Go to work on hitting your goals with the expectation of obtaining your dream as a result.

Goals

By Anthony D Carter

Goal achievement happens when you take certain steps to insure your success. You can succeed at hitting your goals if you keep these seven tips in mind.

Dream Big. Let yourself go. Do not put limits on yourself. Act as if you had the money or time to do what you want. Then write down everything that you want to be, do, or have in your life. Just brainstorm as if anything were possible for you. After you finish, segment your dreams into the logical categories that they would naturally fit in. Next you want to set a goal in each of those areas. And it is important that you write each of your goals down.

Put a date on it. The date is the activating mechanism for your goal. It is the thing that gives you the sense of urgency that you will need. Without a deadline you have no anticipated date of achievement. This makes it easy for the debilitating habit of procrastination to take hold.

Take Action. Get started. Nothing significant happens until you actually take action. You can dream about it. You can think about it. You can talk about it. But until you actually begin taking the steps to make your dreams come true your goal will remain a wish.

Build in Accountability. Get a partner that you can be accountable to. It helps to have someone who will hold you to your word. They can also give you encouragement and feedback. This can help you stay inspired and on track. For additional benefits become a part of a mastermind team. When you have another person on your team you can get better results because of the synergy that normally flows between two people with the same aim.

Be Patient. As the saying goes Rome wasn’t built in a day. And it is highly unlikely that you will set a goal and wake up the next day to see that you have hit it without any effort whatsoever. So give it time. Your efforts will yield benefits that compound over time. Eventually you will see the fruits of your labor. Remember, first there is sowing season, then comes growing season and lastly, there is harvest season

Visualize it Often. See your goal as already accomplished. Visualize what you want. The better you can picture what you want the stronger the magnetic pull will be that draws it to you.

“Picture yourself vividly as winning and that alone will contribute
immeasurably to success. Great living starts with a picture,
held in your imagination, of what you would like to do or be.”
~ Harry Emerson Fosdick

See yourself successfully accomplishing your goal as often as you can throughout the day. This builds your expectancy level as it programs your subconscious to direct you towards what you want.

Reward Yourself. Celebrate when you succeed with any part of your goals. Do not wait until you have hit your goal to celebrate. Reward yourself for hitting certain milestones along the way. If you have a goal to lose 20 pounds in 90 days it will help you if you took a break to do something fun after you lost 10 pounds in 45 days. This builds your endurance and keeps you excited.

Maintain high motivation for goals that you set for yourself. You can do it if you follow certain keys that help you stay motivated. Avoid these mistakes if you want to remain exited and keep moving forward.

Resigned to Status Quo. Frustration with lack of results can cause you to say, “What’s the use?” You may feel like giving up because your efforts do not seem to be making a difference. Before you know it you are back in your same old comfortable routine. This is what we commonly call being “stuck in a rut.” It seems easier to face the familiar than to keep experiencing failure and frustration.

Solution: Strengthen that winning feeling. We lose our motivation because we lose our resolve. We lose our resolve when we lose our inspiration. And that inspiration comes from the dream. You must remember your reason why. Feel the feeling that you believe you will have once you hit your goal and obtain your dream. If you can focus on the desired result then you can maintain motivation. You must never forget your reason why.

Inconsistent Action. Constant starting and stopping will destroy your initiative. You will lose all momentum and end up drifting along. It is hard to stay motivated if you stop yourself just as you have began to get in a groove with what you are doing. If you take a small amount of action then and then stop you will never develop the work ethic that you need for long-term success.

Solution: Make a personal commitment. And find someone whom you can be accountable to. You need to put strategies in place that cause you to follow through with your plans on a consistent basis. Consistent action will help your state of mind. You will feel more confident. You will also feel like you are contributing to your forward progress with every instance of consistent action that you take.

All Work No Play. You can only work so hard for a limited amount of time before you get burned out. After keeping your nose to the grindstone for extended periods of time you will become more pessimistic than optimistic. If you work constantly without taking a vacation you will develop the belief that you are destined to work hard without ever enjoying the fruits of your labor. All work without any pleasure will cause you to become fed up with the process. Eventually you will lose your motivation and quit.

Solution: You have to lighten up and relax from time to time. But, it is best if you pre-plan your down time. That way you are not checking out every time you face a struggle. When you schedule in vacations you give yourself time to recharge your batteries. After stepping away for awhile you will gain a new perspective on what you are trying to accomplish. This gets you excited about picking up where you left off. When you start again you will do so with increased motivation and renewed vigor.

Setting goals helps you to accomplish great things. In order to hit the goals that you set keep these 5 keys in mind.

Write. Be sure to write your goals down. It has been said that the palest ink is better than the sharpest memory. When you write your goals down you start the process towards causing them to materialize in your life. A written statement of what you are striving to be, do, or have can keep you focused and on track.

Read. Reading your goals everyday helps to keep your attention centered on what you are trying to accomplish. If you do not continue to read your goals regularly the daily situations and circumstances will pull your focus in opposite directions.

Affirm. Speak positive affirmations. When you speak affirmations you help to impress your goal onto your subconscious mind. Speaking affirmations also help you to center your focus on what you want and off of what you don’t want.

Visualize. Create mental pictures of what you want to accomplish. You will have a easier time hitting your goals if you can visualize the end result that you desire. A vision board helps too. When you visualize what you want you trick your subconscious mind into believing that actually have what you want. The more that you can do that the more your subconscious will guide you to solutions for overcoming your obstacles.

Persist. Above all you need persistence in order to realize your dreams. You must stick it out even when you don’t get the quick results. As long as your plan is sound and you are consistently doing the work you will eventually succeed in hitting your goals.

To motivate yourself you can use techniques and tips that have been proven successful for others. Since lasting motivation comes from within it is important to develop habits which foster lasting inspiration. Here are five things that you can use to motivate yourself.

1- Self-Help Books. Success books give you tools and strategies that increase your motivation. Biographies are also good. They provide you with true stories of people who have overcome challenges and gone on to live successful lives. These stories are truly inspirational. They give you confidence and belief in your abilities to get what you want.

2- Written Goals. Write your goals down and refer to them often for consistent inspiration. A written record of your goals provides you with a valuable tool for increased motivation. When you are inspired to hit your goals you will be motivated to take the action required to hit them. Know what you are aiming for at all times. Keep your target well defined and at the forefront of your mind. This helps you stay motivated and action oriented towards getting what you want.

3- Audio Programs. There are many self help audio programs available to you. You can use these to study motivational messages in order to increase your desire which in turn causes you to take action more consistently. Unlike books, audio programs don’t require your complete attention. You can listen to audio programs in the background while you are busy doing other things. You can play motivation Cd’s while driving your car or listen to inspirational mp3s while you are working out at the gym.

4- Past Success. Reflect on your past successes. Sometimes it pays to stop and think about your past achievements. This will lift your spirits and increase your drive. Your thought process becomes: “If I did it before I then I can do it again.” Inspiration from former success will give you a boost in confidence and added motivation to press towards hitting your current goal.

5- Rewards. Lack of rewards or breaks from the grind of constant work can actually lead to decreased production. When we don’t build rewards into our routines then monotony and fatigue set in. In order to avoid burn out give yourself preplanned rewards for your successful arrival at certain milestones. Those milestones can be time based or achievement based. When you reach a particular milestone reward yourself with something simple like a movie, a dessert or a break.
