Step 1 – Create a strong reason. Think about what you really want. Once you have that identified make it the most important thing that drives you. View every action taken as a means by which you bring what you want closer to being in your possession.

Step 2 – Make a plan. Create a plan to get what you want. Make it as detailed as possible. Let the progression of your plan dictate the true level of your success. The further along you get towards completion of your plan the closer you will be to getting what you want. Let that that thought motivate you to complete your plan as soon as possible.

Step 3 – Work from a list. Use a checklist to keep up with what needs to be done. After you complete each of the necessary task check them off. As you mark each task as done you will begin to get a rush of excitement from the thought of eventually finishing the entire list.

Step 4 – Develop action habit. Take the initiative at every opportunity. Take action as a matter of habit. When you feel tempted to procrastinate train yourself to act instead. Do not allow yourself to put tasks off to a later time. Repeat saying to yourself, “Do it now.” If you do this long enough it will become ingrained into your personality. Doing necessary task in an expedient manner will become a way of life for you.

Step 5 – Focus on the desired outcome. Keep your eyes on the prize. Let what you desire drive you to do what it takes. When you continually think about your desire as you work towards getting it you increase your expectation. You are then motivated to keep working because doing so helps you to obtain what you want.

Procrastination cost us many opportunities. When we wait instead of acting we let chances for advancement pass us buy. Here are three tips for stopping procrastination.

Find a Reason – Dig deep if you have to, but come up with a reason to get excited about what you have to do. The more excitement that you can garner the more likely you will be driven to take action. Focus on the benefits to taking action. Dwell on them as opportunities. Say to yourself, “Here is my chance to do something great and I am going for it.” Visualize a successful outcome.

Develop a Plan – Map out a plan for a successful result. This will boost your confidence and raise your initiative. You will feel like you can take action without any negative consequences. There is less hesitancy because you feel you have made a plan. There is a well thought out course of action. You can also use your plan to break your task down into more manageable pieces. That way it will be easier to do the work. You will not dread doing it as much.

Start – Jump on in and get started. Once you get started keep going. Do not stop doing what you need to do. One of the best ways to get over the procrastination habit is to develop the action habit. Take action every chance you get. Make it a normal response from you. Whenever something needs to be done go about doing it as soon as possible. Don’t fret over it, just do it.

With the proper motivation your productivity soars. Without it there is little desire to do anything. You don’t have to be at the mercy of motivation levels that are high one day and low the next. Here are 7 tips for high motivation levels.

Use the Power of Expectation- Go about doing every task with the expectation of it being successful. It is easier to get going when you believe that your work will yield positive results. Expectation is an ability that is well within your control. It is the opposite of what you do when you worry. Worry causes us to draw back. When we are worried it makes us want to take a passive approach to our work because we don’t believe what we are doing is going to work. Expectation propels us into action. When you expect good results to come from your work you are motivated to do that work.

Use Solid Planning- Make good plans. Good planning gives you confidence. You know when you take action it has been formulated to give you success. That knowing gives you the motivation to step out and do what you need to do.

Stick to It- Keep doing what needs to be done even when you feel like quitting. Persistence actually develops into a habit over time. As you do the necessary tasks on a regular basis you will develop positive habits. Steady application of these routines will eventually result in you getting what you want. Consistently apply the necessary work until you experience your desired outcome.

Don’t Wait, Do- Rather than waiting to be inspired go ahead and do the work. The mere act of starting will give you energy and excitement. You will gain motivation by taking the initiative.

Get Up- When you get knocked down get back up. Be like a child that is learning to walk. Just because she falls down she doesn’t stay there. She keeps trying. She maintains her enthusiasm for walking. Eventually after much trial and error the child learns to walk. Going after goals should elicit the same type of determination. You will not continue failing if you keep trying. Your continued effort will eventually yield positive results. Use this thought to motivate yourself to keep going until experience the desired outcome.

Get the Action Habit- Make action the first impulse. When faced with a challenge think to yourself,”What can I do right now to remedy this situation?” Then do what comes to mind. Motivation follows action. It is not the other way around.

Celebrate Success- As you overcome obstacles and challenges celebrate. Get excited about growth and improvement. Whatever gets rewarded gets repeated. The more you make a big deal out of your successes the more you will want to duplicate the actions that caused them.

Set the goal- Clearly identify what you want to do. It is important that you actually set the goal and not merely hope you get what you want. Simply saying I want to fit and trim is not a goal. You have to identify your target weight and set a goal to achieve it.

Categorize- Determine which area of your life your goal belongs in. Is it a financial goal, spiritual, or a physical goal? If it is a professional goal then you will need to take into consideration everything in your professional life which impacts your goal. You also want to understand the bearing a goal in one area of your life can have on another area of your life. It is best to think this out as you are setting your goals.

Plan- Next make a plan. This plan should take into consideration the road blocks and obstacles that you anticipate facing. You may not be able to plan for every hurdle that you will eventually face, but start with what the challenges that you are already aware of. Make plans on how you can go from where you are now to where you want to be. Map out a plan for hitting your goals.

Work- Do the work that is necessary. Day by day work your plan. Make a commitment to take action on your goal. Your work ethic is the one thing over which you have complete control over.

Be Consistent- Do something to propel you forward daily. Do not back off. Do not let a day go by where you did not do something to advance yourself towards achieving your goal.

Revisit the Goal- Use goal cards to keep your goal before you. Vision boards can also help you in a major way. Each time you revisit your goal you reinforce your commitment. Place pictures up so that you can maintain a good memory of the reason behind your work.

Be Accountable- When you tell someone that you plan to do something you will strive harder to make it happen. After all you gave your work.

Identify Rewards- Clearly determine, in advance, what you intend to receive in return for all of you efforts. Your anticipation of claiming this reward will keep you going when you feel like quitting.

Get a Mentor- It helps you eliminate costly mistakes when you can learn from someone who has already done what you are striving to do.A mentor can save you from years of frustration and confusion.

Use Affirmations- What you say to yourself matters. Use uplifting self-talk. Always tell yourself that you can do it. Your self-talk programs your subconscious. So always talk in terms of what you want and never in terms of what you do not want.

By Anthony D Carter

Goal setting involves dreaming, planning, and work. When you use these three components of goal setting you lay the foundation for your success.

Dreaming. A big dream can propel you toward huge accomplishments. It is the dream that sets the parameters of your goal. The dream determines what you will have to do and when you will need to do it. You want to have a clear reason for doing the work that you are about to perform. When you know why then it is easier to pay the price to get what you want.

Planning. A good plan takes the guesswork and uncertainty out of your endeavor. When you know what you want and you know how to get it then a good portion of your success has been accomplished. Your clarity and decisive action will overcome many of the pitfalls that cause other people to fail or give up. When you are armed with a solid plan you are able to focus on the tasks that you have laid out with forethought. This way you are not swayed by circumstances. You are able to predetermine the route that you are going to take.

Work. “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” said Samuel Goldwyn. You can make many of your own breaks by simply working hard on a consistent basis. Realize that you don’t succeed in achieving your goals until you actually put in the work. Maintain consistent as well as persistent effort when working your plan. Your success will come as a result of your steady work. You must develop resolve to keep on working when you feel like quitting. You will hit your goal eventually if you continue doing the work that your plan calls for.

By Anthony D Carter

Goal setting is the foundation to success. Your goals determine the direction of your life. They also give you a reason for getting out of bed each day. Goal setting provides a tremendous asset for living a fulfilling life, but the process is so misunderstood by so many. These 5 steps will clear up the confusion normally associated with goal setting.

Pick your objective. Identify the desired target that you want to hit. What do you want to accomplish? When do you want to finish it? And most important, why do you want to do it? What is the pay off? What do you expect to receive in return for the work that you are going to put in? Answering these questions will determine what your goal is. Upon completion of this first phase you will also gain clarity on the reward that you will have once your goal is achieved.

Write it down. An old Chinese Proverb states, “The palest ink is better than the best memory.” Your goals are more powerful for you when you write them down. It is best to have them written down so that you can look at them periodically throughout the day. Just having a goal in your head is not good enough. You will get distracted by all of the challenges and aspirations that you have in a typical day. Soon your important goal will become a distant memory. It will get washed away by the urgent responsibilities associated with your day to day living.

Break it up. Divide your goal up into parts. You will need to make it more manageable. A big goal is not as imposing when it is broken down into smaller parts. As you complete each part you will gain confidence and skill. As the saying goes, “Mile by mile it’s a trial; yard by yard it’s hard; but inch by inch it’s a cinch.”

Make a plan. Lay out a plan for achieving your goal. Planning your goal out in advance helps you to stay steady later on when you are faced with trials and setbacks. In those times rather than stopping to figure out your next move, you can pull out you plan and pick up where you left off. When you use planning to hit your goals you remove emotional ebb and flow from the equation. It does not matter how you feel. You can simply follow the path that you have before you.

With a plan you can follow a predetermined route for goal achievement. Your plan does not have to be perfect, but it helps to lay out a game plan for dealing with obvious hurdles and barriers. Again, it really helps to lay out your plan before you begin.

Take Action. Do the work necessary to hit your goal. Nothing happens until you take action. Take massive action and you will gain proficiency for getting ideal results. So often people want to wait until they are better equipped before they start. The problem with that kind of thinking is they never feel truly ready so they never start. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Do the thing and you will have the power.” You have to start from where you are and take action to make your dreams come true. Taking action is the most important step to goal setting and goal achievement.

To get what you want you need to follow some specific principles. There are certain steps that guide you to your dream. Here are 7 tips for getting what you want.

Decide. Figure out what you really want. Make a decision on what matters most to you. List the reasons why it is important that you must have it. Make a commitment to do what it takes to get it. Once you make your decision you gain clarity.

Plan. Come up with a plan for accomplishing your goal. It is important that you lay out the steps that you need to take. Your plan keeps you on track. Your plan gives you a means of charting your progress. You will know how close you are to hitting your goal by examining how far along you are with completion of your plan.

Focus. Keep your attention on where you want to go. Focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want. As you focus on what you want you will recognize opportunities. You will be able to turn certain situations to your advantage because you are able to see ways in which those situations will enable you to get another step closer to what you want.

Work. Do the work that you have laid out in your plan. Doing the work keeps your attitude positive. You are encouraged when you take consistent steps by applying a solid work ethic. The positive results which come from your work fuels your motivation. The more good results you experience the more motivated you will be to take additional action.

Change. Be willing to change in order to get what you want. You will have to change in some kind of way. If you could have what you want by staying the same then you would have had what you wanted a long ago. Be willing to change your habits, your mindset, your location or anything else so that you can obtain what you desire.

Associate. Spend time with people who can and will help you. Do not hang around people who put you down or ridicule you because of your dream. You need to surround your self with positive supportive people. You want to be in the company of people who encourage and inspire you.

Persist. Keep on keeping on. Never give up. Keep doing what it takes to have what you want. Your persistence will be rewarded. Most people stop one step away from the finish line. Commit to finishing what you have started so that you get the reward that you have worked so hard for.

Getting what you want does not have to be a confusing task. There is a process that makes it easier. Here are three steps to getting what you want.

Get Clear. Find out what you really want by taking time for some serious introspection. Spend some time alone thinking about what you want. Then think about all of the reasons behind you having that desire. This should create an emotional response within you. You should be able to visualize it also. Next, ask yourself why do you want it. Write down everything that comes to mind when you think of your dream.

Make a Plan. Map out a step by step process of what it will take to get what you have decided to go after. Include everything that you need to do. Include everything that you need to learn. Determine which people you will need to ask for help. Put all of the necessary tasks into chronological order. Start with what you need to do first then next and so on. You now have your plan.

Do It. Get started now. The sooner you start the quicker you will begin aligning forces in your favor. When you start taking steps towards getting what you want you tell yourself and the world that you are serious. Waiting until the conditions improve before you start only saps your initiative and ambition. Taking action does the opposite. If you are already busy moving in the direction that you want to go in it is easier to get support from others. You also put yourself in a better position to seize opportunities. These opportunities would not have been presented to you had you just made your plan and then simply waited.

“Just keep on keeping on” is a motto that is easier said than done. There is more to successful goal attainment than gritting your teeth and bearing down with steady intensity as you forge ahead. You must be persistent in order to realize the successful achievement of any of your goals. But before you gain the necessary resolve that it takes you will need to do 4 things first.

Begin With The End In Mind

Think about the reward. Is what you are going after worth the price that you will have to pay? If it is then how long do you anticipate the whole process taking? When you do accomplish your goal in what way will your life improve? Who else will benefit? Answering these types of questions will give you a clear picture of what your life will be like once you obtain what you want. This type of clarity gives you the diligence that will be need while you are doing the work.

Create a Solid Plan

Once you have your end-game established then move on to creating a plan. Set some work goals. If you plan on losing 25 pounds in 12 months then your work goals may include task similar to these: Walk for 60 minutes 5days a week. Consume less than 2,000 calories a day. And drink eight glasses of water daily.

Next you need to work out a plan that will allow you to accomplish your daily, weekly, and monthly work goals.

Take Breaks

After phases of hard work you’ll need to take breaks. Schedule them in in advance. Advance planning of your breaks removes the temptation to rationalize and take time off even when you really don’t deserve it. The best way to do it is reward your self after hitting milestones or after successfully taking consistent action over a predetermined amount of time. Taking breaks will put wind in your sails and give you the power to endure. They make you stronger over the long haul.

Believe You Will Succeed

Have confidence that you will succeed. See yourself accomplishing your goals. Visualize crossing the finish line victoriously. When your journey seems the toughest increase your resolve by focusing on what you want, See your self in possession of your goal. Know that if you consistently work your plan with passion and focus then you will eventually obtain what it is that you want.

Motivation Keys- 4 Universal Laws of Increased Motivation

1. The Law of Direction

Determine your direction for increased motivation. Knowing where you are going increases your ability to make quick decisions. Quick decision making eliminates your tendency to hesitate. With direction you have a target which you are striving to hit. You can clearly recognize opportunities. You are able to seize those opportunities quickly when you know where you are going. When you have direction you are more motivated to take action.

2.The Law of Simple Planning

Planning offers you a step by step path to completion of your goals. When you know where you are going you are able to fight against procrastination better. With a plan you know what comes next so you are compelled to act. You are not paralyzed by indecision. The plan allows you to focus on the task in front of you. As you complete one step you proceed to the next one according to your plan. It is easier to get up for a task when you know that there is a solid plan in place.

3.The Law of Initiative

When motivation is low simply take the first step. When you take initiative you feed yourself confidence and energy. After being in an inactive state for a prolonged amount of time just starting will make you excited. Once you take the intuitive strive to develop a habit of doing it all of the time. You want to become the type of person who is quick to act. When you are that type of person you don’t have to get motivated in order to take action you will take action as a course of habit.

4.The Law of Expectation

When you do something for an expected result you will find that motivation comes easily. It is like the kid who is expecting a bike to be under the Christmas Tree if he gets good grades in school. He is motivated to get good grades by the bike. Deep down he still doesn’t want to do his homework or study hard, but he does. He does it to get the bicycle. We can do the same thing when we want to achieve a desired result. We can build up expectation for the results that we want as we are taking the necessary action to make those desired results come to fruition.
