Achieving your goals requires that you go another step beyond your imagined limits. When you feel like giving up take another step and you will be rewarded.

Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown.
~ Ross Perot

Your success will be determined in great measure by your ability to persist inspite of the strong urge to give up. You will need to develop tactics which help you to maintain your intensity and motivation.

One of the best ways to stay motivated is to keep your attention the rewards that your goal striving efforts are going to give you. Keep your eye on the prize. If your dream is big enough you will not have to fret over maintaining motivation.

Focus on where you are going rather than where you have been. Keep your attention centered on what you want rather than the problems and setbacks that you are faced with. Remember energy goes where attention flows. So fix your attention to your major aspiration and do not switch it back to your problems. This way you will continue to get more answers as well as more options for achieving your goal.

“The secret of success is constancy of purpose.” ~ Benjamin Disraeli

Have you ever started out with the clear intention of accomplishing a goal only to end up totally end left field six months later? You were excited when you started but some where along the way you got off track. I know how you feel. I used to do this all of the time.

I found a way to stay on course until I accomplish what I set out to do. The best way to stay on track is to keep the remembrance of what you want. There are so many things pulling at our attention. It is easy to get distracted. And that is precisely what happens when you fail to do what intended to do.

If you are not diligent in keeping your goal before you will forget it. You will arrive at your deadline empty handed and wondering where you went wrong. You lose your momentum when you take your eye off of the prize. Neglect to revisit your goals on a regular basis and you will lose touch with burning desire which propels you to hit it. After awhile of not visualizing what you want it will not matter to you as much.

Given six months of not rekindling the fire and something else will fill the space that your dream once held. That void will be filled by urgent challenges or ambitions that other people have for you. Nature abhors a vacuum. So you must keep your dream alive and your goal at the forefront of your mind until you achieve it. If you don’t then you will continually drift through life on an emotional roller coaster.

You will be fired up and exited about your aspirations one day and down in the dumps with disappointment six months later.

When you keep your dream before you it will motivate you to remain consistent. If you are persistent then you will succeed. You have to stay steady in good times and bad. Consistency is the key.

Achieving your goal is easier when you can picture the desired result in your mind before you succeed. Here are seven reasons why it is important to visualize your goal.

Motivation – When you visualize your goal you will increase your motivation levels. It is easier to go after a goal that you picture in your mind consistently. The picture that you keep in your mind’s eye propels you towards achieving your goal.

Expectancy – Like a child before Christmas day you will increase your expectancy when you visualize your goal. It becomes real to you. In time you will come to believe that you will achieve your goal if you continue to do the work. The picture that you hold in your mind will excite you like a carrot on a stick in front of a donkey.

Persistence – Visualization of your goal helps you to persist in spite of tremendous odds and set backs. When you visualize your desired objective as already accomplished your goal becomes more important than the struggle. Then you will persist regardless of the obstacles that you face.

Consistency – You will remain consistent when you have a mental picture of what you want. It is vital that you maintain a consistent effort in order to succeed at hitting your goals.

Speed – Success with goal achievement happens quicker when you use visualization. The reason that most people fail at hitting their goals is they forget what they were working for. You need a strong why and you have to keep that why at the forefront of your mind at all times. When you do so you will hit your goals quicker with less distractions.

1-Big Reason Why: You must have a reason that matters greatly to you in order to maintain motivation. If your reason is weak then your efforts will eventually become weak as well. The bigger your reasons the stronger your motivation will be. Having a dream or goal motivates you to do the necessary work. You are more willing to do difficult task and overcome challenges when you can clearly identify your reasons for paying the price.

2-Don’t Stop In Tough Times: When the going gets tough you need to redouble your efforts to keep your work habits consistent. Stopping only puts you in a position to have to get started all over again at a later date. The inertia will be difficult to overcome. You are like a rocket that blasts off from a launchpad. You expend a lot of energy getting into a rhythm with your work. Do not waste all of your momentum by stopping. Press on. Keep on going. Stay consistent and persistent with your work and your motivation will improve.

3-Focus on the Desired Outcome: When you feel stuck or unmotivated to do what needs to be done change your focus. Rather than focusing on the obstacles and the work ahead of you concentrate on your desired results. Dwell on the outcome that you want to see. Then start working towards making that desired outcome a reality. As you hold the vision of what you want in your mind the tasks that you have to do will become easier and less daunting. You will want to do the work as soon as possible so that you can get whatever it is that you want quicker. Placing your attention on the desired results will motivate you to do what needs to be done.

Persistence is a vital ingredient in successful goal achievement. When we come to the point where we feel like stopping that is when we must press in all the more. Here are three tips for cultivating increased persistence.

Desire. The stronger your desire the more you will be motivated to to do the necessary work. So, in order to stay persistent stoke the flames of your desire. Build that desire. Think about what it is going to be like to get what you are working for.

Determination. Stay determined to get what you want while going through good times and bad. You must bear down and continue working your plan whether you are experiencing your desired results or not. Often the positive effects of your work don’t show themselves until weeks or months have passed.

After phases of doing the work consistently we begin to wonder if we will ever hit our goal. Discouragement creeps in and we get weary. Next there is a tendency to rationalize. We then create a reason for backing off.

It is at these times that we must persist. If we do then we get our second wind. We reinforce appreciation of good work habits. We gain skills from the repetition of successful actions. And eventually we see undeniable results.

Habit. Develop the habit and the habit will take over. When I used to work out four times a week I always felt agitated when something disrupted my schedule. I wanted to keep doing what I had done the previous weeks before. I had developed a habit and I wanted to keep it up. That is a benefit that you gain from developing good consistent work habits. Once you get yourself going long enough it actually becomes hard to stop.

To get what you want you need to follow some specific principles. There are certain steps that guide you to your dream. Here are 7 tips for getting what you want.

Decide. Figure out what you really want. Make a decision on what matters most to you. List the reasons why it is important that you must have it. Make a commitment to do what it takes to get it. Once you make your decision you gain clarity.

Plan. Come up with a plan for accomplishing your goal. It is important that you lay out the steps that you need to take. Your plan keeps you on track. Your plan gives you a means of charting your progress. You will know how close you are to hitting your goal by examining how far along you are with completion of your plan.

Focus. Keep your attention on where you want to go. Focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want. As you focus on what you want you will recognize opportunities. You will be able to turn certain situations to your advantage because you are able to see ways in which those situations will enable you to get another step closer to what you want.

Work. Do the work that you have laid out in your plan. Doing the work keeps your attitude positive. You are encouraged when you take consistent steps by applying a solid work ethic. The positive results which come from your work fuels your motivation. The more good results you experience the more motivated you will be to take additional action.

Change. Be willing to change in order to get what you want. You will have to change in some kind of way. If you could have what you want by staying the same then you would have had what you wanted a long ago. Be willing to change your habits, your mindset, your location or anything else so that you can obtain what you desire.

Associate. Spend time with people who can and will help you. Do not hang around people who put you down or ridicule you because of your dream. You need to surround your self with positive supportive people. You want to be in the company of people who encourage and inspire you.

Persist. Keep on keeping on. Never give up. Keep doing what it takes to have what you want. Your persistence will be rewarded. Most people stop one step away from the finish line. Commit to finishing what you have started so that you get the reward that you have worked so hard for.

1-Link Goal to Dream. Be sure that your goal leads to you obtaining your dream. If it is not this goal that does so then make sure you set a progression of goals which eventually lead you fulfilling an important dream that you have.

2-Set The Goal. In order to hit the goal you must set it. So often people miss this important step. They never hit any goals because none were set. Think about what you want to accomplish and set a goal to get it done. Create goal cards and get busy working to make it happen.

3-Date Your Goal. Establish a date for when you want to accomplish your goal. Give your goal a deadline for completion and it will sharpen you focus. A date will give you a sense of urgency which eliminates procrastination and hesitancy.

4-Planning. Map out a plan for hitting your goal. A solid plan gives you a blueprint for success. Should you get off course you can readjust quickly and get started again with less confusion. You are able to simply make course corrections and pick up with the next phase of your plan.

5-Take Action. Nothing happens until you start to work. You must apply effort towards achieving your goal in order to hit it. If you apply consistent work habits to a solid plan then your success is inevitable.

6-Be Accountable. Let someone who is supportive of you know what you are doing. Tell them you want them to hold you accountable to doing what you said you would do. Being accountable to someone else will cause you to do more than you would do on your own. Because you want to be a person of your word you’ll go the extra mile in order to give a good report to your accountability partner.

7-Persistence. Just keep on keeping on until you hit your goal. Don’t allow failure, frustration or fatigue to make you quit. You must fight through it. Commit yourself to going the distance.

By Anthony D Carter

3- Accept Support – There are people who can help you and there are people who can hurt you. The people who can hurt you are easy to identify. They are the ones who always put you down or express doubt that you can accomplish anything of significance. Avoid these people like the plague. Better yet, drop them like a bad habit. Do not spend time with them if you can help it.

You want to be around the other type of people. Perhaps there is an uncle, aunt, or close friend who has always believed in you. Or maybe there is someone that you trust who will give you honest feedback when you need it. Surround yourself with as many supportive people as possible. Actually if you only have one good friend who supports you the that is enough. Tell them what attempting to do. They will be happy to hear that you are striving to better yourself. They will most certainly offer to help you.

4- Maintain Balance – You should have goals in several areas of your life. You need financial goals, spiritual goals, relationship goals, personal goals, health(fitness) goals and business goals. In order to hit any of your goals you will need to endure. To maintain endurance you’ll need balance. You cannot last as long as is needed if you neglect the other areas of your life in order to be successful with one goal. When going after your goal in one area of your life be mindful of the other areas and give them some of your attention as well.

5 – Persist – Once you have the right goal and set about hitting it, never give up. So often the success that you want awaits you only one step away from your quitting. Do not quit. Stick with it. Even when it seems like you are failing you are actually succeeding. Success is like that sometimes.

With every attempt that you make to accomplish your goal you are growing. You are becoming more skilled and you are gaining confidence.
There is a moment in which a dream more than a mere wish. That moment happens when you make a decision. A dream begins to become real at the very moment that you decide to take action towards making it a reality in your life. Here are 7 tips to for achieving your dreams.

1-Decide to go after it. Once you make a decision to get what you want then all chance disappears. Your decision creates commitment. Once you make a quality decision then it is no longer a matter of if you will get what you want. Rather it becomes a matter of when. Make that decision and commit to doing whatever it takes to get what you want.

2-Set goals to get what you desire. Goal setting does wonders for your confidence and belief level. Write you goals down. When you write out your goals you are giving yourself a target to hit. You can also create a game plan from goals. When you work towards hitting your goals you are taking an active role in creating the conditions for realizing the physical manifestation of your dream.

3-Do something to move yourself forward. Take action everyday. Always take strides towards getting what you want. You never know which action may end up being the one which opens the door to your dream.

4-Use a system to get what you want. Find someone who has done what you want to do and duplicate the part of their plan that worked for them. Applying a proven system saves you time, money and frustration.

5-Be willing to change in order to get what you want. Your dream will always require you to change in some way. Flow with it. Don’t fight the need to change. Don’t be stubborn. Don’t try to do what you have always done and expect to get different results. That is a form of insanity.

6-Apply faith to what you do. Faith is an action word. Too many people remain in a constant state of waiting and call that faith. You can’t just sit around and wait for your ship to come in. Sometimes you have to swim out to meet it. Waiting will not get done. Take action with belief. That is what I mean by applying faith. Step out and do the proper work with confidence that what you are doing is going to give you the results that you want.

7-Be quite about what you are trying to attempt. Keep your dreams goals and plans to yourself. No one has to know except the people who support you. When you constantly share your dreams, plans and ambitions with everyone that you know then you are setting yourself up for failure. It is better to just do it and tell people how you did it after you have already done it.

Persistence is a the main ingredient that determines your success or failure. If you don’t persevere through the struggles then you will most certainly meet with failure.
However if you are able to weather the storm in the face of trials, heart aches and disappointments while pursuing your goals you will eventually meet with success.

Here are some ways to strengthen your persistence.

Revisit your dream. Hold a picture in your mind of what is that you want. If necessary get an actual photo of it until you have it memorized. You want to develop the habit of remembering what it is that you are working for.

No matter what it is that you want you need to imagine yourself in possession of it. This works wonders for increasing your persistence and your motivation. Use this approach for getting a new car, a college degree, or starting your own successful business.

As I mentioned earlier get pictures of what it is that you want and look at them often. Put yourself in the pictures. Imagine what it is going to be like when you get what it is that you want.

Maintaining a clear vision of the object of your desire gives you the motivation you need to keep going on in spite of discouraging circumstances.

Monitor your results. As you are following your plan it is a good to practice to examine your results regularly to see if you are making progress and moving towards your desired target.

Let’s say you had a goal to save $1,500 in six months to use for a down payment on that new car that you want. You make plans to save $250 per month. Then you start to do work your plan over the next six months.

If after 3 months you check your results only to discover that you only have $300. Then you must face the facts. You are not going to accomplish your goal according to your original plan because you’ve gotten off track. If you had just kept your head down and kept working you were headed for disappointment.

But now because you have examined your results you can still hit your goal 3 months later if you make the necessary adjustments.

Far to often we make our plan then we start working the plan, but we don’t stop along the way to take a look at the results. And later after we miss our goals we get frustrated and give up.

The best way to maintain persistence and stay on coarse comes through the consistent examination of your results. This way you can avoid potential shortfalls that are within your control. You will stay on track and thus stave off discouragement. When you are persistent you will eventually succeed.

Take breaks. Be sure to step away from your work from time to time. It may seem like taking time off is counter-productive, but it is quite the opposite. You will find that are actually stronger upon returning after taking a break or vacation.

I have struggled with this one before in the past, but I have discovered the benefits of taking breaks. After I take breaks I usually come back to my work more aware of opportunities that I had previously overlooked.

As the saying goes, I was too close to the forest to see the trees. When we take time off we gain a fresher perspective on what we are doing.

And your energy level will be higher as a result of taking that time off. Also taking a break will give you the endurance that you need to completely follow through with your plans. Taking regular breaks protect you against burn out.

Use these tips to increase your level of persistence. Your dream or desire demands a price that must be paid by you in advance before you can possess it. But the reward is worth it. Stick with your plan. Persist and you will obtain the prize.

Persistence is a vital ingredient in successful goal achievement. When we come to the point where we feel like stopping that is when we must press in all the more. Here are three additional tips for cultivating increased persistence.

Desire. The stronger your desire the more you will be motivated to do the necessary work.

Momentum kicks in and you have positive habits working for you. Then it is easier to do what needs to be done than it is to procrastinate.
